Product Selection Guide

1. Door types: defendadoor™ door protector is available for High Lift and Full Vertical Lift sectional overhead and coiling overhead doors that use a chain lift or automatic door opener to open and close the door.

2. Door width: defendadoor™ Model 108 can be used on doors having a 90" to 100" width and the Model 120 can be used on doors having a 101" to 114" width.

3. Track size: defendadoor™ can be used on doors having a 2" or 3" wide track.

4. Obstruction: Check the drawings attached to the data sheet for references on required operational clearances for either sectional or coiling overhead doors.

5. Door Springs: Prior to installation on a sectional overhead door, the door springs must be checked by the installer to confirm that the factory added the extra weight for the selected model of defendadoor™. Normally, on a new door, there is no extra costs for the size increase of the springs. More than likely, on a retro fit of a existing door the springs will need to be changed out, and the installer must provide new springs.

6. Color: Standard color for the defendadoor™ and its components is safety yellow. This color was selected because of the dim lighting conditions in most shipping areas and it has been recognized as having the best visible distinctions for employees overall. There is a color chart #1 for the beam color and color chart #2 for the powder coat colors for the components. Both the beam and its components are available in custom colors.

7. Materials: defendadoor™ beam is made out of low density plastic. The components, and the wall stop accessory are made out of mild steel, they both are available in stainless steel. These units would be desirable for applications that need to meet FDA requirements, areas that have high moisture or a corrosive environment that could compromise standard protective finishes. See Technical Data for detailed information.

8. Accessory: Door damage while the door is in the open position is relatively rare. However, extra protection for the door while it is in the open position can be obtained by installing a set of wall stops. One mounted on each side of the wall just above the door opening or the continuous wall stops mounted in align with, and adjacent to the door tracks, provides protection to the door from damage. Employees indicate that damage to the door happens because their view of the door was obstructed by products or pallets. Therefore, an alarm with a strobe can be added to the beam that would alert a driver any time there is an impact to the beam.

9. Options: For automatic door openers there is a continuous edge sensor that can be installed along the front bottom edge of the beam. This sensor would work in conjunction with an existing edge sensor that is normally installed on the bottom edge of the door. If the door or the beam were to hit an object while the door is closing the opener would reverse direction due to the signal provided by the edge sensor, thus avoiding damage to the door.
